Top 7 most unhealthy drinks

The worst drinks which you think are healthy

Hello! We're going to talk about the top 7 most unhealthy drinks you must avoid so many people today pay attention to what they eat but it's almost like an afterthought everywhere. People go, they have to have a drink. If they don't pay attention to what that drink is that can really get them in trouble sooner or later.

We're going to do these in reverse order so we'll finish off with the worst one but even number 7 is pretty bad.

# 7 Non-dairy creamers

These can come in a powder form or a liquid form but very often outside of water, the first ingredient will be something like corn syrup solids or high fructose corn sweetener. The second ingredient would be hydrogenated vegetable oil. So, here we have a really bad fat and they turn it worse by hydrogenating, turning it into a trans-fat which is basically like a plastic substance. That's completely foreign to your body and a lot of people pick non-dairy creamers because they're trying to avoid dairy but often, they put sodium caseinate in to give it certain consistency. Casein is a milk protein so even though you're trying to avoid Dairy you're probably still getting some and then there's a whole list of chemicals like preservatives, artificial flavours, and artificial colours. None of these you should put in your body.

# 6 Flavored water, Sharbat & Ice Teas

Don't get me wrong this could be a good product but very often it isn't. So, you have to watch for what's in there? Sometimes they tease you and brag about the fact that this is made with real fruit juice and it could be up to 3%. Well, that wouldn't be a terrible thing if that's all it was and then they had some natural things like essential oils for flavouring but very often this is just the tip of the iceberg. They put some other sugar or artificial sweeteners in there. Some of the things you want to watch for are: artificial flavours, added sugar that they might disguise as Agave or something like that artificial-sweeteners. In some Asian regions, other sugar-based flavoured syrups are readily available on market shelves. They mixed with water called “sharbat”. Sometimes used with milk equally like by elders and children. Of course, you have to avoid sugary syrups and artificial colours. Sometimes these could be a good thing if made from natural sources but very often they're just chemical concoctions again.

# 5 Chocolate Milk & Milk Shakes

A lot of people want to complete their fast-food meals with a shake. With Wendy's Frosty, they could get a large size with over 80 grams of sugar, but this can get much worse; the largest size of Mcdonald's thick shake has 168 grams of sugar and 1160 calories in the shake alone. Also, in some Asian countries, Rohafza and Jam-e-Sherin (Red coloured highly concentrated sugar syrup) are the most popular substance to put in milk or mix with water to serve as a sweet drink alone.

It may provide fullness, but why is sugar bad? There are different types known as sucrose, high fructose corn syrup, honey and agave that al

l have similar effects. Glucose and fructose when linked together in sucrose absorb quicker and their glycemic index rises. This means even natural forms such as honey or agave can be worse than high-fructose corn syrup. We still have the exact same molecules that affect us in the exact same way. The only thing that's slightly worse in sugar and fructose is alcohol because alcohol can also only be processed by the liver. So, it has a tremendous potential to overwhelm the liver and cause fatty liver and the only real difference between alcohol and fructose is alcohol. So, alcohol is not given to kids whereas sugar and high fructose corn syrup are in almost everything kids eat and therefore we see fatty liver down in the early teens and even pre-teens as well.

# 4 Cold coffee & Lattes drinks

Here I'm referring to the popular trendy drinks in coffee shops so chai, lattes Frappuccinos and so forth. These are really nothing more than sugar bombs in a single drink you could get as much as 80 grams of sugar. Just imagine you think you're just ordering a nice beverage and they toss in this much sugar in a single drink depending on the side but that doesn't even include some of the toppings. That's just the basic configuration of that drink in a large size. You might as well walk into one of those places and say can I have a cup of diabetes to go but then of course all of those little squirts of syrups and chemical stuff are in it. There are tons of artificial flavours, artificial colours, artificial anything you don’t want in.

# 3 Juices

It's clear to see why we should limit the amount of juice. Orange juice, for instance, contains a high quantity of sugar; 36 grams of sugar, in fact, to be precise - just slightly less than what is in a 40-gram bag. Coca-Cola has approximately 39 grams in 12 ounces. For some, this isn't enough and they will add even more sugar. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean there can't be any benefits from consuming oranges; when they are freshly squeezed, they are still packed full of enzymes and aromas and contain less sugar. Provided you're physically healthy it is safe to consume occasionally (once or twice a week). However, if you're not in the best of health then it's better to err on the side of caution and stay away from juice entirely - have a few berries instead!

# 2 Sports drinks & energy drinks

Sports drinks can contain a lot of sugar, comparable to soda or orange juice, but is often drunk in larger quantities due to their perceived ability to replenish electrolytes. You can’t claim the worst energy drinks for your health because people can easily drink over a litre in a single session without realizing the amount of sugar coming along for the ride. Gatorade and other sports drinks are thought to be healthy and performance-enhancing, however, they often contain artificial flavours, colours and excessive quantities of sugar. A more cost-effective option is adding a quarter teaspoon of salt into the water for the same benefits as Gatorade, minus the extra sugar.

Energy drinks also mostly consist of sugar with an added stimulant, usually caffeine in coffee form. While it might provide an illusion of energy initially, what it's actually doing is changing our priorities in order to use up resources that we would normally reserve for later. This is like borrowing money on a credit card: it has no real energy value, and just promises to pay back with interest later on.

# 1 Soda

The number one worst drink and the most toxic thing to stay away from is soda or soft drinks and even though we use Coca-Cola as an example it's not just about Coke. Now the question is what soda is the worst for you? It's all the soft drinks with sugar and high fructose corn syrup in them. One typical can of 12 ounces like we said has 39 grams of sugar and very often this sugar is high fructose corn syrup. Of course, when people learn how bad high fructose corn syrup in which it is now, they start replacing it with cane sugar. Now, cane sugar gets proclaimed as a healthy substitute for high fructose corn syrup, which of course it isn't. High fructose corn syrup is just a little bit worse for the reasons that we talked about earlier. The reason I put it on number one is that through massive amounts of advertising and billions of dollars every year in promoting these sugary drinks, this has become a way of life in many modern cultures, especially in the United States but this is spreading all over the world. Whereas a way of life and thinking of it as a thirst quencher we drink it all day long. We don't even think about it has become the default food beverage for so many people. You see it in the stores they're loading up their carts with soda and they drink it mindlessly and it is part of every meal. So, that's the problem that it's so pervasive that it is a way of life and it's part of everything that people do.
